So we are now in October and only a few months away from Christmas. The run up to Christmas is usually a busy one making lots of felt stockings so this year I tried to start a little early to try and avoid having to turn custom down again because I just didn’t have time to make more. I stop for the Christmas break a week before the big day so I can have a little bit of time off with the family and also because it is mine and my daughter’s birthday in that week too, so it all gets a little bit hectic.
In the last few years I have gone from making a couple of stockings for friends to having a little collection of 11 designs and the odd commission thrown in for good measure. I thought it would be good to show off a gallery of previous orders I have made for those of you that maybe thinking about buying one soon. All stockings come lined and can be personalised at no extra charge. I have some ready made stockings available in my shop or they can be made to order by completing an order form.
These were the first ones I made. All made from squares of fabric ranging from 1-2″. They took a little while to make purely because of the amount of piecing involved but for a first attempt at stocking making I was quite pleased with the result. Felt Stockings
Shortly after I was approached by another friend to make a character stocking for her son who loved penguins. After some doodling I came up with this cute penguin design made from felt. I had never really worked with felt before but loved how versatile it was.
Not long after I was asked if I could do a Santa. I like the close up feature I had with the penguin so tried to replicate the same feel with the new design. I also changed the personalisation to a co-ordinated felt gift tag which meant I could make in advance and personalise later.
It was only a matter of time before customers started to request different designs plus I added a few of my own and the current collection was born…..
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
There is the option with this stocking to have a background colour of your choice, although the favourite seems to be red.
Frosty the Snowman
The colour options with the snowman are the hat band and scarf.
The Toy Tin Soldier
Originally there was only one colour available, red, however a recent order required a blue soldier so both boys could have the same but different.
The Robin Redbreast
The Christmas Tree Fairy
Up until now I hadn’t done anything particularly girly so wanted to do a design for a fairy. This is the first stocking to have 3d features with the wings and glitter! There are a few colour options for this stocking and many have chosen their favourite colours for the background and dresses as well as a hair/skin tone to match their own or their daughter’s. There’s even a boy fairy there too!
A slight variation on the fairy minus the wings of course and we have Mrs Claus to go with Santa, I popular choice for mums and grandmothers.
The Workshop Elf
A cheeky chappie who can also be made in colours of your choice.
For Furry Friends
I couldn’t leave out the furry members of the family so have added the paw print stocking after a request to make a stocking for their dog. They can be made in a range of colours to best match your dog with glittered pads and a fur trim. They are slightly smaller than the standard size stockings
Elf Shoe Stockings
These stockings are made from cotton, padded and lined. They feature a stuffed curly toe with a jingle bell, and can be made in a fabric of your choice.
How could I make stockings and not make them for my own kids? So My daughter chose a purple puffle from the Club Penguin game whilst my son is Angry Bird mad so he has the black one. The red bird was made as a raffle prize at my daughters school fayre. Would you believe it, she only went and won it!!! However it was agreed that we would draw again and she was more than happy with the giant tub of chocolates won instead.
So that is the current collection (for now!) . Last year I ran a giveaway to win a stocking and will do another very soon for this year so watch this space, I’m thinking something yellow and blue that likes bananas.
